Hyper VS Uniform Cardioid

I am slightly confused on this topic. What is the difference between Hyper and Uniform Cardioid Microphones? (besides the cost) What are the distinuishing differences in the sound of the recorded audio?

Cardioid has less tail (sometimes almost zero tail).

Hyper has narrower pickup out front.

Both are important considerations, but generally speaking the hyper is more versatile for videographers.

An intelligent mic choice is based on what the mic hears as well as what it IGNORES... you want the actor's lines and not the highway traffic, dog barking, etc... a hyper has a smaller tail and more natural polar pattern then most shotguns, and a narrower bubble to ignore some sound from the sides. That's why it's the goto mic in so many cases.

Don't ever forget that successful location sound comes from accurate capture of the desired sounds combined with successful elimination of the UNdesired sounds.

I was mainly wondering this because I have two sennheiser e385 microphones, which are uniform cardioid as opposed to hyper. I haven't yet tested these out together, but would you generally recommend using these two uniform cardioid microphones together for indoor shots? Or would it be better to just use one AT-4073a shotgun for indoors?
