hybrid storyboards

This is something i did as a test. it proved very fruitful. i took these photos with a 35mm slr camera and scanned the negatives on a flatbed scanner with the negative tray. doing the storyboards this way will alow me to better plan my shots and have the look and framing the way i want it. Drawing takes too long and you cant get the feel of the shot. this way i have my location all set. and i get a clue as to what i will need to do for lighting.

what do you think?

This is a good idea. A lot of people have done this before. Theres even a company that makes SLR ground glasses with film aspect ratio marking etched in so you can frame your SLR like you would a motionpicture camera looking through the eyepeice. I use this method too, but because I'm also a fine artist. I get a lot of satisfaction doing some actual drawing. Also more often than not, I can get more better feel for a shot by drawing it than by taking a photo of a given shot that doesn't have the lighting I want, or the set dressing. Plus, there are some locations you may not have that don't exsist or have access to before shooting, so you may always need to do a little drawing. :)
