Hello. I own a HVX200 with a letus extreem on it. My question is for years I have been buying Nikon Af lenses for it and i realy dont see if thats what i need. My question is what do you guys use as lenses for ur adapters? is it af or manual? The afs' are running me alot of money and i dont use auto focus obviousley so I was wondering if what im doing is right? The only reason I went for af was because the lenses are new. also my other question is on the hvx should i remove the lense protector filter out the camera when i put in the letus? i usualy use both and they come out great. Please let me know and thank you for all your help in advance.

absolutely NO need for AF lenses.

its been a while so i may have this wrong but as i recall, when i got into adapters like 7 years ago, the newer lenses are intended for smaller sensors. so youre not getting the same image you would with an older lens

Best bet is a 50mm 1.4 AI. The latest MF nikkor 50mm 1.4 is the AIS, but it has a shorter focus throw. The 50mm 1.4 AI will be easier to use with precise focus.

AI > AIS for filmmaking

okay so i should get only ai-s for filming? please let me know thanks. I have 2 ai lenses and i have an option to switch it to ais for free.

AI-s is sometimes has better optics but in most cases has exactly the same optics as AI. The main benefit of the AI over AI-s is the throw of the focus ring is longer making focussing more precise. A rack focus on an AI-s may be a 10 degree turn, on an AI-s might be 20 or 30 degrees. Allows smoother more precise movement. AI-s can stop down further but you'll never use that. And AI is cheaper. I bought half my lenses as AI-s before I figured this out. My most expensive AI-s lens (28mm) has such a short throw it's almost unusable at my skill level if I need to alter focus within a shot, even using a double hard-stop follow focus.
