Hey guys ...

I am gonna be investing for HVX200 and vegas as my NLe .. With no prior experience using vegas ... What would be a good solution to learn about the workflow..

Ihave been going throught the pages here ..

but as my first time .. I plan to use the HVX200 to shoot on SD using Minidv as P2 cards are way over my budget ..

Q1) i stumbled accross www.vasst.com ... are they're DVD tutorials any good ?

Q2) Would have any alternate site to regarding tutorials ..

Q3) Is the HVX-200 to SD identical to as the DVX100 ?

Q4) Do you guys advise me to go for the Barry Green's HVX book/CD or HVX bootcamp DVD or both... ? Is the info provided between the products drastically different .. ?

I plan to go witht the HVX-200 as the cam as I do plan to migrate to HD after year when the format becomes popular in the region where I reside ... Its my first time using the camera and NLE ... God bless everyone with super-successful movie career who would assist me with the above questions ;)

Here's a free tutorial on Vegas, Raylight and the HVX200

thanx for that ... mvb.. but I would be recording on MiniDv ..

I am not sure but even will that be produced as an MXF file ??

Yes, Barrys book is almost required reading if you own an HVX200. It goes over recording to tape. With Vegas you will just import/capture via firewire as you would with any other DV camera. More Vegas & HVX200 (tape) info here:

here..

and here:

Ed has MANY great free tutorials for Vegas here. . .

The VAAST tutorials are very good and focus primarily on advanced features of Vegas Video.

Vegas is a great (PC) program to edit MXF files , but they must first be converted to AVI files via Raylight or Cineform, many posts on each one of those programs. I use Raylight and it works like a charm.

When shooting in DV mode (on Mini-DV tape), no NLE has better integration with the HVX or DVX than Vegas.

For learning about working with 24p DV in Vegas, the very best place to start (not to toot my own horn, but it really is) is here:

http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=46677

I am also in the process of making a full-length DVD about Vegas and 24p.

For more general knowledge about Vegas, the VASST site and Ed's newsletters are great static resources; the forums here, on DVInfo.net, and at the Sony Media Software site are all fantastic for quick responses to questions you can't find in tutorials.
