Am I going to be able to create a Shallow DOF using a 1.6x tele converter for my HVX instead of using a 35mm adapter?

thanks

I think what needs to be clarified, and maybe Barry can add to this somewhat is that 35mm adapters do not actually change the depth of field of a lens. a 50mm lens at F1.8 will always have the same depth of field whether that be on a DVX, HVX or a 35mm lens. What 35mm lens adapters do is change the field of view, thus making a 50mm lens much wider angle than the standard mini dv stock lens.
So lets say you ad a 2x teleconverter to your HVX thus giving you on the long end of the lens a 125mm (correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not sure of the focal length on the HVX). Now for a mini dv sized chip a 125mm lens is a SUPER telephoto. I mean super duper telephoto. However on a 35mm sized chip a 125mm lens would be a short telephoto lens. Now the depth of field of the super telephoto HVX would be the same as the depth of field of the 35mm camera, but the field of view would be much wider than the HVX would be. I hope this makes sense as this seems to be a question that comes up quite frequenlty. Maybe Barry can put it more eloquently.
