HVX200 Price?

I'm thinkin of grabbing an HXV200. I'm seeing interent pricing ranging from near MSRP all the way down to $3,500-$4,000. That's quite a spread.

Has anyone purchased from one of these cheaper places? Do they back up their products or ignore you once they ship?

Can anyone recommend specific "safe" places to order?

While I'm at it, any rumors about a Rev B coming soon? And shouldn't we be seeing larger P2 cards by now?

Thanks!

Forget the cheap places. It's more likely that they ignore you after you paid...The cheapest reputable dealer will be around 5300$. Larger P2 cards should come early fall. And do a search here. :)

Hi Mindbend,

We are a site sponsor and have one of the lowest prices as well as a special discount for the CinePorter™ when it comes out. See our banner on this site and give us a call.

Pascal the least expensive I've found from a non-brooklyn dealer is $5219. I'm trying to get one for 5k even, but If I don't I might go with them.

David I can never get those banners to work. I hit them and nothing happens.

We've had some problems too. Jarred, do you know if there is a problem? Sometimes it just opens up another window of DVXUser and others it goes to another sponsor's site.

Anyway, don't forget all the value-added stuff from us, including support from an Authorized Service Center. :)

Mcgee, weren't you the guy that got the hvx b stock from ebay? (The camera I missed by 50 bucks?) If it is you, how is it working out?

I did, its working out well thanks.

Had to go to Kinkos to print out the manual though, lol. :dankk2:

The deal on spec-comm looks all good! I mean you get a 6000 maH battery plus free UPS shipping!

You don't have to have a P2 card to operate this beast, right? I can get away w/ using a miniDV tape to record my footage on.

Also when it says "Price includes camcorder with standard accessories.," that means these items:
  • CG-AD54SE/1B Lithium-Ion 7.2V / 5400mA snap-on battery
  • AG-B15 AC adaptor/battery charger
  • microphone holder
  • component video cables with RCA-BNC adaptors
  • remote control
  • shoulder strap and instruction manual
Thank you. Have a nice weekend!

peace,
bustak

So, you get a second battery for free? Because the one included by Panasonic also lasts very long, about 3.5 hours.

Yes, you can use plain MiniDV tapes to shoot. You can only record DV to them, but I really like the quality, as all internal processings are done in 1920x1080, only for output do DV tape the signal gets downconverted. By using the squeeze mode, you can also make full use of the 16:9 imager.

Bustak, you must remember the downconverted image looses some quality. I filmed some Ferraris racing at Monte Carlo and after downconverting they became some rusty volkeswagons do a demolition derby in a New Jersey parking lot.

So any other great places to purchase for less than $5,000.
I mean, after a year the manufacturer is gonna drop the price by $500 or something anyways. So they might just do that now for those that can not buy for $5,000+.
