hvx200 jitter and skipping playback

hey guys..

does the hvx have a problem with the minidv side in terms of playback? i pop a tape in, and when i play it its all jittery and skipping. i figured its a dirty tape head issue, cleaned it with a tape head cleaner and same thing.

this happens on my hvx camera, then I borrowed my friend's camera and its the same thing..

now i try it on my cheezy half broken jvc minidv deck and it plays back fine..

any thought anyone? let me know.. thanks

to add to that, it only happens on some tapes.. not all.. (they are all same tapes.. sony)

Well thats your problem.......

Sony. They make tapes that are incompatible with other makers tapes because of a lubrication issue. Dont use Sony tapes. Use panasonics.

hmm.. weird.. alright.. i guess panasonic tapes w panasonic cameras, and sony tapes with sony cameras.. i use the z1u as well..

i think its a little weird on how they require such a thing..

how about buying a deck? does it matter as well? I was thinking of purchasing a sony hdv deck, so then if i use panasonic tapes, it will jitter? that does not make sense.. its like.. "we are incompatable.. with nothing but us.."

what's your take on it.. what would you do in this situation? buy 2 decks??

my friend told me to trust in the sony decks.. they are the most reliable..

nono its not Sony cam sonytape.... its Sony tapes, no cameras....

They cause this problem in their own cameras as well. 99% of other manufacturers use a compatible lubricant, Sony HAS to be different and use the incompatible stuff. Supposedly they changed the recipie but the problmes still occurs.

I would just swear off of Sonytapes. Use Maxell, fuji, Panasonic, JVC, ETc....

wow.. serious? so what i have been hearing about sony tapes is untrue? interesting.. is there an article or anything that supports this? i need to do massive research now..

ok that site explains different tapes.. and it has reports of that sony tape.. interesting.. seems like tdk is bad too..

so what stay with fuji? sucks i bought a good amount of sony tapes..

The danger appears to be in mixing dry and wet lubricants. Extended capacity tapes are a separate issue, and Panasonic warns against their use in the manual.

I would clean the heads to hopefully remove any remnants of past lubricants and possible contamination, and then stick (no pun intended) with the Sony tapes you have, provided they are 60 minute tapes.

yea they are 60mins,.. but now i am thinking about switching them out to something else.. a less drop out tape or so.. fuji..

is this the same fuji I see @ the drug stores.. CVS, Walgreens, etc? it seems like there is only one type.. let me know..
