HVX200 Green Screen Problem

I have tried everything I know to figure this out.

I keep getting this white outline around my subject that is driving me nuts.

Here is a frame of the green screen:

As you can see the screen is evenly lit. I have tried detail levels at -1, -2, -3, and -4, no difference.
I have tried with rim light and without. No difference.
I am shooting 24pn.

Here is screen shot zoomed in, so you can see the outline better.

Here is a screen grab with a key from Keylight. I have also used DVMatte, Ultimatte, and Primatte. Same result on all of them.

I've tried chocking the matte, and pre-blur, I can get rid of most of the outer outline by chocking the matte, but loose all hair detail in the process. And no matter how much I choke it, the inner lines between his arms, just don't go away.

Here is another screen grab:

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. In fact, I will pay for your time, if your answer solves my problem.

Many Thanks

in after effects, load up key light, drop down the "screen Matte" menu, then adjust "clip black" up to 35 or so

It looks like the detail setting in the camera was up to high. That's what's causing that little outline in the blow up of the unkeyed shot. For Greenscreen, you generally want to turn the detail completely off, or to its lowest setting if it can't be turned off.

You might be able to use a matte choker to eat into the matte and remove the white outline, but you'll lose some of the fine edges around the hair, for example.

That was shot with the detail at -4. I have tried -1, -2, -3, and -4. Yes you can choke it out, but I want to keep the hair detail. I have even tried doing a procedural matte technique on this, and just trying to key the hair, but that outline kills it. I've tried keying the outline, but that kills the whole key.

Thanks Anyway

You may need to look into "lightwrap" and blurring the edge of the key (only). Check for tutorials on the net.

I just happen to be looking around and found this thread. Here is a solution that I found to work extremely well. I found it on a tutorial, but can't for the life of me find where it was on the net. I use keylight all the time in AE, so I will try to explain what I did with your sample.

I first applied a rough garbage matte around the subject.

I then applied Keylight, choosing the Screen Color with the color picker.

In the View section, I choose Screen Matte.

I then went to the Screen Matte section and adjusted the Clip White to 68 and adjusted the Screen Shrink to -3.

I went back to change the View to Intermediate Result.

I then added Keylight again to the clip.

I opened up Inside Mask and went down to the Source Alpha and chose Add To Inside Mask. What that does is make what you did in the first Keylight a mask for this one.

I once again used the eyedropper to pick the Screen Color.

I went to View and chose Status and adjusted the Screen Gain to 108 to get rid of most of the gray in the background.

Then I changed the View to final results which you can see below.

I hope this helps you in the future. I use the inside mask techniques a lot, especially since I don't have any control on what my subjects wear in front of a green screen. I didn't do anything with your green screen spill on the subject, but that is a different topic anyway.
