HVX200 capturing problem w/ FCP6.0.3

Hi,

I'm trying to capture SD footage into FCP 6.0.3 with the hvx200. I've shot it on this camera and FCP is not recognizing the camera when I try to log and capture it. I'm using the 1394 connection. I've tried to change the device controls to "DVCPRO HD Firewire" and "Firewire NTSC" to no avail.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. I'm actually trying to capture miniDV footage from the HVX and the video deck isn't coming up at all when i goto "log and capture"
 
Techincally your capture settings should be generic DV device, when the camera is set to tape mode it is just a DV device nothing special
 
I've tried the generic settings to no avail. It just keeps popping up with "unable to initialize video deck". I've gone over the camera manual and everything but its still not working. Could it be a FCP 6.0.3 update issue?
 
No, it isn't that. An aquaintance with 6.0.3 just tested it and it works fine for him. So it must be something else. Try another firewire cable? Different port? Disconnecting other firewire devices from those ports...
 
This happened with me sometimes not with .0.3 but with 0.1 version. It's not the version thing. You just have to sometimes restart the computer and unplug the cable while restarting and go back in and make sure "non controlable device" is not selected.

You will have to play around couple of times with the wire and restart and eventually it works. It's weird but it works eventually

I have this happen to me from time to time on my iMac. If you have an external FW drive attached, unmount it and power it off. Plug in the camera's FW and turn on the camera, set to VTR mode. Then restart FCS. I've found that some FW external drives while powered up and mounted (even some when unmounted), prevents communication with the camera.
 
hi, I have the same problem, i'm not able to capture since I update to fcp 6.0.3.. but with my dvx100a. I try 3 FW cable (able to capture using imovie ) i'm able to control the camera, see the image in the log and capture but as soon as a press NOW ( attemp to capture video without a video device selected...)
I got a macbookpro (brand new the best currently available 4gig ram 2.6 hidef...)
finalcut 6.0.3
QT 7.4.5

I'm still searching but if you have an idea :)
