HVX200 35mm adapter

I got the Redrock M2 as well and can't praise it enough. Underpriced.

SHHH! Don't tell them that!

Seriously, though, they are nice people. Brian has helped me immensely choosing my lenses (went with Nikon).

Now that my camera is here, with luck my adapter will be here in a week or two as well.

PS: they are making a very interesting follow focus at an equally reasonable price.

I went with the Redrock

I went with the Redrock

I just ordered the Redrock M2 a couple of days ago. I figure that it should arrive about the same time as my HVX which I ordered three months ago. Brian Valente is a super guy to work with.

35mm adaptor, Tripod... They both bother me... You all talk about M2 Redrock today, but tomorow it gonna be about the future G35, and for tripod, there is just so many, and price from 600$ to 10 000$... I do not want the cheapest, but I want something that will give good result, the best bang for the buck

Best bang for the buck right now is the Cartoni Focus at around $1400. Very nice little tripod; see the big tripod review in Studio Monthly magazine or read Jarred's review of the Focus head here on DVXUser.com. I just picked one up, it is very very nice for the price.

Yes, there are a lot of tripods out there! I was using a bogen Manfrotto crank type until I rented a JVC HD100 and it wobbled!

I've got an Indie Dolly and an EXFX Jib. The Jib is so heavy that I needed a heavy duty tripod with a 100mm bowl. Low and behold Helmut from Indie Dolly systems imports the strongest (and heaviest - 33 pounds) tripods I've ever seen. It will support an EXFX Jib with the 6 foot extension and remote control Pan/Tilt head with a camera up to 25 pounds.

I also bought a 503 tripod head. Now, after Barry and Jarred, I'm starting to regret the purchase of the head.

But, if you're looking for a REALLY heavy duty tripod, Helmut's the guy to go to.

I'm going to EVS tomorrow or Monday to pick up a case for my HVX... Maybe I can be wooed by the the Cartoni, if they have one in stock.

The 503 isn't good enough? Man! That's depressing!

Personally the Vinten Vision 3 is the way to go. The Focus is nice but the Vision is a dream. A little more $ though. $1849.00

Barry...
Is that kit with the A304 2-stage Aluminum Ultra-Light Tripod or with the A303 single-stage Carbon Fiber Tripod..? Both are around that same price at B&H...
In the Studio|Monthly review, Will Holloway tests a Focus head on a single-stage tripod which looks like the A303 Carbon Fiber...
Both are rated at 22 lbs... so them will easily support an HVX + M2 Cinema Lens Adapter (6 Lbs) + Telephoto Lens + Mattebox/FollowFocus +7" LCD Monitor... around 18-20lbs in total... What do you think?
Thank you so much for your comments.
Henry.

I got a Sachtler 20 II head with hotpod 14 legs off Ebay for $1500. Cost a further couple of hundred for a full service buut its stunning. There are bargains to be had. Costs over $8000 new.

Haven't tried it; the head claims it supports 22 pounds, I'm sure the rig you're describing will clock in at around 10-12 pounds total. I don't know how heavy an M2 is but it can't be very heavy...

The legs I have are two-stage; I don't remember the model number.
