i still plan to use vegas to edit my .mxf footage and i know raylight will turn it into a workable .avi for use in vegas. anybody using this workflow yet and can give experiences and maybe as to whether or not to buy a new box just for HVX work especially when trying to work with 720p HD footage and output to DVD. any experiences are greatly appreciated.

I'm using it thus far, works just fine, isn't too much of an encumbrance, IMO.
You'll get good playback with the yellow on a reasonably fast machine, and you'll get good playback with blue on a very fast system. I've written a brief tutorial on our website about it if you want to check that out. Be sure you get the latest version of Raylight as well. It was recently updated
