HVX PP work flow...

I have a short shoot in the next couple of weeks. I'm going to be borrowing a HVX from a friend who has no clue about how to use the P2 card. I'm not even sure that he knows that it shoots in HD. But anyways.

I need to know that work flow. the final out put will be to minidv then to beta sp, or could i dump it back to the P2 card then transfer it from the camera to the beta sp deck. but i want the quality of the 4:2:2 to do color correction. So how will i bring in the video from the P2 card. and will i be able to just send video into after effects or will it have to be converted to another format?

Look into either DVFilm.com's RayLight, or Serious Magic's DVCPRO-HD Decoder, or CineForm. You'll need one of those to work with HVX footage on Premiere Pro.

how smooth is the workflow compared to lets say SD in premire.
When aspect Hd first came out i tried using it with the fx1 at its infancy and it was nothing but problems, coudlnt dump back to the HD camera, this adn that.

Are the same type of bugs and lack of support also happening with the hvx and premiere?

I just got the trial of Cineform whatever its called, and it does NOT go up to 1080P
Any of these free?

I dont see Anything like 1920 x 1080 :(

Nobody does 1920x1080. HDCAM, DVCPRO-HD, XDCAM-HD and HDV are all 1440x1080 (or even 1280x1080). CineForm's 1440x1080 at 25p, 24p, and 30p *are* 1080p.

LIES!!!
I have the wrong version of Cineform, i need Prospect HD

Raylight supports 1920 x 1080, but Barry is correct in that the internal
coding of 1080-line DVCProHD is either 1280 x 1080 or 1440 x 1080.

The advantage of using Raylight's 1920 x 1080 format is that the codec
does better upscaling than the NLE will do, becasue it upscales and
then applies a filter to counteract the softening.

Hi There,
the formats are 1280x720 and 1440x1080. The 720p works ok in premiere with cineform aspect hd with little stutter problems. It transforms the MXF Files to Avis. If you put some effects on it it will take a while for rendering. Anyway our final cut system isn´t really faster/better. We will try matrox and Intel core 2 duo for the pc-system soon.
Best Markus
