But it's sooooo noisy...Oh well, guess I'll send it back and get an A1...
Kholi said:I bet that was a stab at me! That's alright. You try to get a noise-free image of a burgundy sweater and we'll see. >=P
Barry_Green said:Potentially they can be every bit as fast as a native firewire bus, because PCMCIA is faster than FW800.
In practice, that's another matter. I had an old PCMCIA FW400 adapter on my two-laptops-ago laptop, and it worked fine. I have an ExpressCard FW800 adapter for my current laptop and it's a dog-slow pig, completely useless. I don't know what the problem is, as it should be twice as fast as FW400, but in practice it takes 40 minutes to offload a card to my G-Raid through FW800, and it takes 2.5 minutes to offload to it through FW400, so obviously there's something very wrong there.

a gay hvx jousting tournament...... naked...
I'll have to try it again. The FW800 driver actually ended up jacking up my onboard 1394 port so I had to uninstall it completely to get DV Rack working again, but yeah I'll take another stab at it...pblacklock said:Barry,
Check to see if your operating system didn't use a basic driver and hasn't install the correct driver to run your FW800 card, that's what happen on my system here, now it capture straight to the hard drive in full 1080i and without any lags. for windows - control panel-hardware- right click your fw800 device and check the driver . hope that helps and is the actual solution for your problem.
