HVX P2 and Vegas

So sorry if this is an old subject. I tried a search with very limited results.

I shoot with a Canon HV20 and a HVX200 and edit with Avid on a 2.6Ghz IBM. I was thinking of getting Vegas as a back up editing software.

What is Vegas' compatibility with P2 and what other software if any would I have to buy to import HD P2 clips into Vegas?

Can Vegas handle different frame rates and interlace none interlace on the same time line?

Basically can I mike the Canon HV20 interlace HDV with P2 30P?

Thanks

Kris

Vegas has no native compatibility with P2, but you can use Raylight to get P2 compatibility (i.e., the ability to directly edit the MXF files). www.dvfilm.com/raylight

Yes, Vegas can handle any frame rate, interlace or progressive, any aspect ratio, any format, any frame size (SD, HD, web video, or anything else) all simultaneously on the same timeline. You can put a 2fps 4:3 animated GIF on a 16:9 1080/60i timeline and it works fine, all realtime, it'll just convert any footage to conform to the timeline's properties.
