CAMCORDERS: HVX- Output to hdmi ??

HVX200 cameras still exist on earth and are not extinct - we hope it will be so one day - as you know, the output of the digital image is 1394 the camcorders are outdated and do not have hdmi....

Our question is, is there a way for external recording by new recorders? With Firewire 800 adapters to Apple's Thunderbolt 2 and mini display to hdmi converter, it seems to be successful...

Has anyone tried it? In this case, you need 3 connection converters

1- Convert Firewire 1394 to Firewire 800
2- Convert Fire and 800 Thunderbolt 2 made by Apple
3- Convert mini display to hdmi

Considering the large number of connections and the cost of connections, it will be worth a try for those who have the Apple Thunderbolt 2 adapter available...
In another scenario we will have 4 connections firewire 400 to 800, thunderbolt 2 to thunderbolt 3 and hdmi converter

I remind you that I have never tried these and just guess,

Those who have tried to share their experiences.

Thanks,

You're introducing multiple failure points by stacking adapters.

They used to make CF DTE recorders, can't remember whether they supported HD or not, but why not use P2 cards?

Of course, firewire recorders are available with cf card, but the problem is to create an hdmi output compatible with today's recorders, using a P2 card is the best option, but this is not the topic of this post.

You could also use the component outputs and something like this (Amazon link below).

While it may seem counterintuitive to use an analog signal within the digital chain, if you read through this thread there are some interesting thoughts that the signal out of the component outputs could actually be higher quality than the digital one as it has less processing. See post #11.

Thank you, I have heard about analog signals, they have noise and if the cables are of poor quality, . HDMI is what today's recorders follow

I have to say that I don't have much experience with component and analog recorders, probably there is an open and easier method...

Please look at the links again. This is an analog to HDMI converter, so it is a simple cable from the HVX (via the HVX's component cable dongle) and then into a modern recorder. Couldn't be easier. If you already have your HVX and recorder, you may want to give this a try to see if it works for you as it will certainly be a cleaner (and less expensive) build than what it takes to convert from Firewire to HDMI.

Well, once again we are looking a situation where physical connectors can be connected, but nowhere near having information transferred.
Video signal in this case in fw is probably 100Mbps dvcproHD.
Which is codec that has certain luma/chroma resolutions and compression.

HDMI is very different beast, it is uncompressed and needs a whole lot more bandwidth.

There's no easy way to do the conversion.

But it is very easy to convert that analog-component-HD to hdmi.
And I just wish I had one those cheap converters for saturday...
