HVX + M2 + Nikons Montage

I put a bunch of clips of some stuff I've shot with my M2 over the past few weeks into a short movie. It's mostly HVX but there are a few fx1 shots in there.

So you can go handheld with the M2? Do you need a camera assist when doing so?

I'm just wondering if I could get a setup like this along with a Merlin for some smooth handheld work.
