HVX - Lens Add-Ons

Schneider/Century offer a 1.6x Tele-Converter for the HVX, and I understand that a 2.0x Tele-Converter is in the works.

For some surfing shots of long point breaks, like Superbank, I am looking more for a 4x or a 3x Tele-Converter add-on lens.

Any suggestions? I am guessing some DV add-on lens with the largest diameter and step down rings? I will be zooming through vignette. Thanks in advance.

The only lens that worked worth talking about on the DVX was the Century 1.6. There were some off-brand coke-bottle junk lenses with 2.0x magnification that didn't work at all.

I haven't heard anything about any quality manufacturer offering a 2.0 or longer...

Barry,

You are absolutely correct. I searched some past threads and my reference to the Schneider/Century 2.0x Tele-Converter being "in the works" was a total 'invented memory'. Sorry about that, I must have been confusing the .75x that was being developed and discussed back in January, which is now available. Barry, I do note one of your threads you wished the 1.6 was a 2.0x.

As for a 35mm adaptor option, the HVX lens alone has 32.5-423 equivalent to a 35mm still photography lens. With say a M2 or Bravis35, does anyone have any suggestions for super-duper zooming beyond the HVX range and factoring in beyond the Schneider/Century 1.6x Tele-Converter, taking the HVX to 676mm, if I have done the calculations correctly? Light loss is not such a big deal, as surfing and water are rather bright, though a fast lens with super zoom length is going to cost a packet, if possible at all. I think I am starting to answer this myself. :crybaby: Thanks in advance.

other adapter/lens

other adapter/lens

hello,

was in adorama camera in nyc the other day picking up a carbon sachtler dv-6 (2k, amazing piece of equipment) and spoke to gentleman with adapter for larger format lens than 35mm. From what i understood, most 35mm adapters use a prism to change the size of the image, causing inversion and light loss. The gentleman, whose name escapes me now, had created another adapter that looked smaller than red rock, that used high quality ground/polished glass to alter image to the hvx. claimed no light loss, and no inversion. can anyone (barry et al) comment? He was using lens from a discontinued manufacturer line and claimed there was much around for cheap in that category. also wanted shorter money for the adapter, around 700, i think, don't quote my price for his product....forgot his name, nice guy though....could find him through adorama.
