HVX Audio Feedback - Need help!

Hi Guys,

So i've been testing audio (lectrosound lavs, me66 through a shure fe33 3 way mixer) and I'm getting a lot of feedback, so I disconnected everything and started troubleshooting my problem, I took all mics off and then tested the camera with just the onboard mic, obviously I still here feedback because its a crap mic, so then I switch to line and see what happens with no mics, and my levels turned ALL the way down- I still hear the feedback, I don't get why the feedback exists in all of these conditions... Any one have any ideas how to cut the feedback out?

Thanks!

Justin

Yeah, the playback speaker on the camera is the ONLY POSSIBLE way you'd get feedback like that out in the field. Phasing issues with multiple mics, sure, but never feedback. Find yourself a good pair of monitoring headphones and don't bother with your camera's onboard speaker. If you're camera's speaker is off, then I don't think you'll be hearing feedback... something else maybe, but not feedback.

Headphone leakage is another possibility, especially if your using an on-camera mic. Make sure you're using tight-fitting closed-back headphones.

Are you absolutely certain that you're hearing a feedback oscillation? Disconnect the camera from any external devices and switch both channels to "line in". If you're getting a feedback loop without any mics or external devices attached and the inputs switched to "line in", then you should probably get that camera down to a repair shop.
