HVX and the DVrack

I read in an old post that DVrack works for the HVX when put into DV mode. I was wondering how helpful it would be to use DVrack when shooting DVCProHD footage. Yes, I know that DVrack wont work when shooting in that format. What I mean is switch to DV mode on the HVX and set up your shot with the help of DVrack. Then when everything is nice, switch to HD mode. How much adjusting would need to be made when switching to HD mode? I'm mainly looking for Barry's answer since I know he has DVrack as well as the HVX, but I guess any SD/HD expert should be able to explain the changes that I would need to make when using the assistance of DVrack in this way. All the tech stuff is the same... same camera, lens, chip, lights, etc, etc... only difference is the recording format. I figured that since I'm going to eventually buy DVrack and the DVCProHD expansion pack... I might as well find out if it can help me right now or not. Any comments would be helpful. Thanx

Soon it will be 100% functional with the DVC Rack expansion pack.

It will be moderately functional for what you describe, but within the next few weeks it'll be 100%. I haven't experimented much with it to see the difference you're describing (setting up in SD, then switching to HD to shoot) but I'd imagine there would be a few differences owing to 601 color space vs. 709.

More trouble than it's worth (doing what you are describing). If you leave DVRack on while you switch format in the camera it will pretty much scramble the screen (and lock the program). Just hang in there a few more weeks (I think) and DVC Rack should be coming available.

And yes, Barry will probably have a more complete (or correct) answer, I think he is still beta-testing DVC Rack.

edit: darn you're still the fastest gun in the West (er, I guess that's probably East now, huh?)
