HVX and MacBook Pro 17''

I'm about to purchase an HVX 200, 2 8gb P2 cards, Redrock M2 and various Nikon lenses for a feature I'm making this September.
Now I'm considering my editing options...
Premiere Pro and Aspect HD seems complicated and messy. But cheap.
Mac seems expensive but works.
Question is if I decide to edit a feature on a Macbook Pro 17'' with G-Raid external drives will the connection be fast enough to do this with firewire800?
I've heard the computer is fast enough to edit... but what about the Terabytes of external footage?
Can I import footage from the HVX straight to the Macbook through firewire? (seeing as there is no PCMCIA card on the Macbook)
Is there an eSata card for the Macbook Pro and would this work with an eSata external drive from G-Tech?

thanks

Well I personal would do my feature edit on a mac book pro. Not enough power for the renders and it would just take forever to do an only with titles cc and an uncompressed out put. As for editing in general the macbook pro can edit. It would be a good editor for offline editing and basic online work. As for the rest of your questions yes. the Graid is fast enough for I think two or four streams of DVCPro HD. Yes you can import from camera to editor over firewire.

I would look at the price of just getting a mac book pro vs just getting a Power Mac G5. You don't need the quad. you can get away with the 2.3 and it is a damn good machine. Load it up with a terabyte in the computer and buy your ram from curricle not apple.

did you mean to say you would NOT do a feature on mac book pro?

The lack of pcmcia is a bit of a problem for me as well, though haven't tried the firewire option yet
