So I did some tests on the different recording setups on the HVX and the recording format on the FS100. Here are my results:

Clip#1
HVX: 480i/60i FS100 record mode:QT
OPENS FINE IN ANY PROGRAM
DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
29.97

CLIP#2
HVX:480/24p FS100 record mode:QT
OPENS FINE IN ANY PROGRAM
DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
29.97

CLIP#3
HVX: 480/24PA FS100 record mode:QT
WILL NOT OPEN IN ANY PROGRAM!!!
(THIS IS HOW I SHOT MY FOOTAGE THAT WILL NOT OPEN)

CLIP#4
HVX: 480/24PA FS100 record mode:QT24P
OPEN IN ALL PROGRAMS
DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
23.98 (this is cool, record DV/24PA in true 23.98!!!)

CLIP#5
HVX: 480/24P FS100 record mode:QT24P
OPENS IN ALL PROGRAMS
DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
29.97

CLIP#6
HVX: 480i/60i FS100 record mode:QT24P
OPENS FINE IN ALL PROGRAMS
DV, 720 x 480 (640 x 480), Millions
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
16-bit Integer (Little Endian), Mono, 48.000 kHz
29.97

Why would the clip#3 footage not be useable? if you do the reverse and set the HVX up in 480i/60i and QT24P (the exact opposite of what I used) the footage is fine. Is this a programming bug or is there something in the manual I missed stating not to set up the FS100 and HVX this way? Is there a fix for my unusable footage?

I;d love to hear from those of you that have messed up unusable footage from the HVX 480/24PA and FS100 record mode in QT (not QT24P)
