HVX and Expo Disc

I loved the one I had. I have one for a 72mm. BUT I cant sell to anyone on here, cause we are all 82mm :) But it is TOP NOTCH. It takes your light and is so fast to put on. Sometimes I wish I would just buy another one, but I dont want to till I sell the 72mm one. :(

I am waiting for my 82mm to come in from bhphoto. I used the 72mm with the
dvx and LOVED it. I sold it with the camera to another dvxuser and told him
he had to have it. I really can't imagine not having one, it balances so fast.

Doesnt this interfere with the optics in a video camera? The promotion material does not show any info regarding video. .

Yeah, that's it. I was at a shoot with a Canon being used and it was a booger
for the director to white balance his camera. He used the clapper board as a
balance card, wasn't the cleaniest board I've seen either.

With the dvx and expodisc I was able to balance in a SNAP. That sucker goes
fast. The problem is that the expodisc is expensive. Most guys would rather
balance on the back of their clapper board or use a piece of white foam.

But are you sure you are getting a true white balance? If you are going to invest,
invest in things that go IN FRONT of the camera. Anything having to do with the
lens is a good thing.

Get it, Chris, you'll love it.

My only problem with the Expodisc is that it uses all the light that hits the lens as the source for the WB, rather than using just the light reflecting off a neutral color if you were to WB off a WB target by filling the frame completely.

I'm not saying the results from the Expodisc are poor, I just don't think they are as accurate as the traditional method.

Thoff - I think the expodisc offers a quick way of wb in a pinch. More than
anything, it's efficient.

What's the difference between an expo disc and holding a white piece of paper over the front of your lens (maybe a thin piece of paper or a cloth)?

also y7ou guys who have 72mmm discs, why not just buy a cheap 82 > 72 step down ring rather than than buying a new disc?

I sold my disc as part of a package when I sold my dvx camera. I could have
kept it, but I wanted the person who bought the camera to have a great
head start. I think nc17 is happy. That sometimes is better than economics.

We just picked one up and it works great. It's a good concept. It picks up all the light that makes it to the lens, so it's ideal for lighting with slight color variances. We bought the 4x4 and just hold it flush to the bayonet mount. This way, we can use it with our wide angle in the same fashion.

My only gripe is that the case they included with mine doesn't fit. I think the case is for the circular discs or something. At any rate, for what you pay... it needs to have a case... preferrably one that fits.
