HVX and Bogen 503

When I tried to use my bogen 503 head with the hvx - it seems that the camera is too wide and does not allow me to lock the plate in place properly. Has anyone encountered this? How do you get around it?

Same problem with the Davis & Sanford head on the ProVista75, so you're not alone and no really solution other than a little help by mounting a slide plate base on the slide plate, then mount the camera slide plate into the new slide base plate. The result will rise the camera just enough that it helps but not a total fix.

Just a thought and how we workaround.

I assume it's because the plate tie down nob is hitting the bottom of your camera?
If this is the case.
Take an allen wrench and take off the little plastic handle that you use to lock the plate into place. Then adjust the screw so that when you put the little handle back into place and it's at its tightest it doesn't rotate above being horizontal with the top of the tripod and doesn't hit the bottom of your camera. This should lock everything into place.

I was at B&H today and I looked at the 503hdv - it seems to be wider??? Anyone know if it is wider than the original? I'm not looking to buy a new head - just curious.
