HVX 720p24pN to BetaSP - sequence settings?

I've got a project I shot on the HVX in 720p24pN. I edited everything and I'm ready to print to Beta (via AJA Io). My sound makes it on to the tape, but no picture. I've checked and rechecked the connections. What step am I missing to downconvert to SD?

I tried using the media manager to create a transcoded SD version, but I can't seem to get that sequence right. Should be 4:3 overall (16:9 plus letterbox), I've tried all the settings, but it always looks stretched or pinched.

Without any of that transcoding nonsense, I can create a DVD and it comes out fine with the letterbox.

Please help.

I'm going to give nesting my HD stuff in an SD timeline, but I'm worried I'll have problems with my filters (4:2:2 smoothing).

You cannot downconvert HD to SD with the I/O. You need to copy and paste your sequence (or export as a ref movie, reimport that and drop that into an SD sequence) and render. 8-bit uncompressed...if there is an I/O equivalent of that.
