HVX 202 and Firestore Focus FS-100

What are the pros and cons of using the focus enhancement firestore fs 100 with the hvx 200 instead of the p2 cards.
Hope the question is well formulated.

FIRESTORE OVER p2

PROS: Longer record times
CONS: Hard drive, moving parts, higher risk of failure, cannot record native frames in 720 24P and 30P mode, um, moving parts

p2 over FIRESTORE

PROS: Can delete clips within camera, records NATIVE frames in 24PN and 30PN modes=less space, virtually indestructable, NO MOVIING PARTS

CONS: expensive, limited record time (right now)

Firestore: little over 2K for 100GBS = $20 per GIG - 1 MINUTE per GIG (can only record the entire 100 mbs DVCPROHD stream, um, moving parts)

P2: $1400 for 8GB card = $175 per GIG - 2.5 MINUTES per GIG (recording in 720P 24PN mode)

To add to RGD's list:

Firestore con = a little noise, plus you have to manage a separate battery for it, plus it's a little bulkier because you have to manage having a separate physical unit (vs. the cards that reside inside the camera).

P2 pro = ability to preview overcrank and undercrank effect right in-camera.

Either way you'll be working in a tapeless environment, with easy access to playing back your clips immediately after shooting them. The Firestore offers much longer recording times, and if I'm not mistaken I believe you can actually daisy-chain multiple firestores together for really really long record times. Viewed strictly on a cost-per-minute basis there's no contest, the firestore provides a lot more recording time for less cost. But as RGD's list illustrates, there are other factors to consider besides cost per gig.

For my own purposes I plan on having both. I view them as nicely complementary technologies.

So are you saying that you cannot undercrank or overcrank when using the firestore FS-100?

you can just cant view it right away like on p2. and u have to use 24P not 24pN.
