HVX 200 Component Video Cable Mod

We're using the more sturdy Canon D-Terminal component video cable, and have added an extension cable with BNC connectors on both ends to run into a Panasonic BTLH1700W monitor... We're having problems keeping the RCA to BNC adapters connected solidly, especially while moving around on the set. My thought was to add a touch of solder to the connector to keep them solid- anyone think this isn't a good idea?

My other thought was to remove the RCA connectors & install BNC connectors... However, when I tried this with the original Panasonic cable it didn't work- nothing on the monitor!
