HVD and the future of Cameras

I'm not as much of a tech head as I would like to be, but with the recent talk of Holigraphic storage devices hitting the 1 Terrabyte mark and having the throughput ability of 160 megabit per second (Mb/s) data rate, do you guys think that in some ways this little device is going to be key in the future of digital storage?

How do you think this will affect the HVX200 with its 100% digital image acquisition?

Perhaps the future is as follows:
you shoot onto a removable memory piece and you quickly burn the matieral to these discs-- these in essence will be an even better storage option that tape if they last for 50 years and can hold a terrabyte of info.

Man we live in pretty insane technological times.

It's an interesting technology (holographic). I'd like to see it in action. For storage, I think it has great possibilities.

we'll see...

Sounds good, but I read about these holographic storage discs (TESA drive anyone?) since many years.
I don't trust it until I hold one of these drives in my own hands. I really hope optical storage catches up so I can backup several harddrives on one cheap disc.

Wow, somebody is using my old avatar. Nice one eddavid.
I kind of miss that avatar. We are connected. We have the same karma.

It has been ages since I used that avatar. I remember when I left the UK, and I didn't know if I was going to be visiting the site that much, that Disjecta said he was going to miss that avatar. Now, I am the one missing it.

Talking of Disjecta, where the hell are you bro? It has been ages since I saw any of your posts here in the forum. You used to be more active.
