Here's a series of 7 short films about short filmmaking that were shot with the HV20 and the Redrock 35mm adapter:

The compression sucks (hopefully we'll get better compressed QuickTimes uploaded). But we're happy with the overall look of the the films. And maybe the ideas in the films make for interesting food for thought for filmmakers too.

the organicness of your footage is very filmic, but is the vignetting coming from your adapter?

I don't really see much vignetting at all. But some folks insist that you have to use a spacer tube to fully get rid of the vignetting with the HV20+Redrock setup. I find it sort of has its own look. Magic Bullet added vignetting as a popular effect because it does give it a cool appearance. I can understand why folks wouldn't want to be locked into a vignetted look, though, and certainly there are ways to minimize or eliminate the vignette (the spacer tube). But I do like the look.

Where were you seeing the most vignetting?

great little videos there man. The blacks were a little muddy for my taste, but it did give it an organic feeling.

The vignetting is not consistant throughout your works. "The Goal" had many shots where it seems as though you did not zoom as far in as you had in other areas of your shorts. But great none the less!
Also, did you add diffusion to the short?

P.s. Whos the absolutely beautiful girl?

The HV20 has a very different optical path than say an HVX. For that reason, unless the system is optimized for it, many lenses (particularly wide angles) will show significant vignetting. That's why we have different configurations for these little cams.

even though i'm not a fan of the red rock adapter, i have noticed, and this is just my opinion, that the red rock combined with that little hv20 does render its look the most filmic that i've seen on the hv20 so far and the brevis as the sharpest.

Thanks for the comments and compliments. PaPa, the beautiful girl is also a beautiful person. She's a Toronto-based actress named Justine Vella. The camera really does love her, and she's a pleasure to work with.

I find the Redrock imparts a rather lovely "diffused" look on its own. I guess that means "softer" but I think it's just pretty.
