HV20 Automatic Pulldown Removal in Vegas 8?

I'm pretty sure that's what I'm getting, after meticulously scanning the video. All I did was drag an HV20 24p clip with pulldown onto a 23.97p timeline, and just like that, there were no repeated frames or anything. I even compared side-by-side with a clone of the clip that had been reverse-telecined, and there was no difference.

I know how to remove HV20 pulldown the long way, but I'd like to make sure this isn't a fluke. Does Vegas 8 have automatic HV20 pulldown removal?

The clip's properties look normal. Playback rate is at normal speed, everything looks the same as a native clip...except the framerate. All references to framerate show it as 29.97 fps, not 23.976. Yet it seems like Vegas is doing a pulldown. Are these properties of the original m2t file or the modified clip in the timeline?

Then the pulldown wasn't removed. I'd guess the video doesn't have that much motion? Sometimes it's hard to see the judder frames.

I think you're right...I've reviewed the clip and some of the frames look like 2 fields from different frames blended together...so I would assume Vegas is doing something weird with the clip to get 24p, not a pulldown removal. Shame. I'll have to use VirtualDub to remove the pulldown now.

Anyways, thanks for all the help!

It didn't get 24p at all if it's reading as 29.97 and if you're seeing those "blended" frames. It's just reading it as 29.97.
