Hurricane Wilma, What is going on.

Hurricane Wilma, now brewing in the Caribbean was as of earlier today, THE STRONGEST STORM EVER RECORED, in this part of the world.

WTF!!!

They say it is going to hit Florida by Saturday. Wow, it has been a rough year for our southern coast.

Is this just a cyclic change in climate or has global warming reared it's ugly head?

Some experts say if it was global warming it would be GLOBAL not just in this part of the world. Its something though...

Perhaps The Universe, The Force, God, Allah, Krishna whateva, is trying to clue us in to the fragility of our economy and way of living, to teach us to quit living as if everything will always run smoothly....to, as a nation and world, always keep a nice fat bank account in reserve for catastrophies rather than doling out $200 checks when we have a "surplus", to seek out alternatives to oil, to find ways to free ourselves of our complete dependence on "the system", the economy and corporations, to simplify our lifestyles so that we can begin breaking down our present way of being to rebuild in a more positive and intelligent manner? Or maybe its just a fluke, I dont know.

WOW. I'm going out and digging a hole in my backyard and filling it with velveeta, bullets, and bottled water. End times boys, end times....

Chuckle it up, but you didnt see how Katrina slammed the southeast with empty gas pumps and mass confusion and fear. That was just one "little" hurricain in one "little" spot and it had my entire town way over here in GA without a drop of gas for over a week....plastic bags hanging on the nozzles...people afraid they wouldnt be able to drive to work or take there kids to school or whatever...

And a couple of weeks later, after the second one, our Governor called of two days of school to save gas. Now we're about to have a third.....this is all just a slight taste of the potential....our system is very, very fragile and it is an extreme folly of society to not heed these warnings we are being given.

What are you going to do when there is no gas for the trucks to bring **** to your grocery stores? What are you going to do when nobody can go to work? If no one can get to work, we have nothing....no water services, no telephones, no internet, no grocery stores....nothing. This is actually a very simplistic way of putting it, it's a very complex spiraling into chaos. It's always the overlooked factors that bite you in the ass......for instance, a lot of the New Orleans chaos was a result of tons of addics with their drug supply cut off, going through extreme jones's "together".....who would have though of that being a serious thing to consider?

It's all well and good to sit in a fine, hip studio appartment and eat junkfood, play "extreme" video games while digesting the latest MTV crap as it flows through the airwaves and have this all lull you into a psychological world where hipness and modernitity is the ruler of the world and nothing can really Stop The Signal, but when the true reality of our societys fragilness hits, it's gonna be real ugly.....and not "movie" ugly.......REAL ugly.

Wow.....at least according to the DVXuser spell check, I got all that right except for not putting an ' in didnt.

Yep...I'd have to say the gig is over, It's time to pay the piper. I've got this real bad feeling that we are gonna have to really flexable mentally to greet the days that loom before us.

BTW, I'd like to add two things....

1) I am not a practitioner of any formal religion, certainly not a Bible thumper....my views come from striaght up sober observation of what appears as obvious to those who strip away their mind cusions.

2) Still to this day (after Katrina), at any given time there are several gas stations with no gas....they are all in a flux of new shipments and running out. Again, this is some bad weather several states away and our entire gas supply is almost wiped completely out and is still not recuped...it's just a taste.....just a taste.

Oh, another BTW, has anyone given thought to the fact that oil aint just for gas? It's not just all about finding alternate fuels.....its also about plastic......look around your room.....no oil, no plastic. No plastic, no computers, CD's DVD's, sandwich bags, TV's....****, I'd say at least 85% of everything we have is plastic. We face a cornucopia of major, major blows to our cozy little lifestyles. But I'm just pissin in the wind.

I blame it on Paris Hilton.

If oil disappeared tommorrow we would find something else to replace it. No question. Just curious, any relation to the author Damon Runyon? My grandfather's favorite.

Ok....but how long would it take and what would we do in the mean time?

As for Damon, I know of him but have zero idea if there is a relation. I do know that Runyon means "He who's appearence is unkempt"....no ****.

Also, remember...it's not just about oil, but rather the true fragility of our entire system. You cant have a strong system when it is build from the ground up on dependence from "outside sources". We are 100% dependent on grocery stores for food, and are among the very first generations to be so in our entire human history.......think about it.

I agree with Daniel. We have become way to dependent (spolied) on so many things. When nature hits us hard we're not able to get back on our feet without government help. I'll probably get some backlash for what I'm about to say. But it's the truth. And it's sometimes easier to see things when you step back and look at it from another perspective.

I sometimes wonder who is really more civilized. When Southeast Asia was hit by the tsunami (killing 250,000!!!) there was alot of suffering, but no complaints, rapes, or trucks with guns on patrol. The locals got aid, but they didn't expect ANY. They picked up what they had, mourned the dead, and went on with their lives. Because they all know nature happens. It's nothing personal. It just happens and you need to be able to support yourself and your family if it does happen. When Wilma hits don't expect the government or anyone else to provide for you. If we are too dependent on other things then, when nature (or anything) tragic happens, our true selves will be revealed. Katrina revealed the good and bad side of America. The beautiful generosity side and the ugly spoiled side.

I'm a proud American, but I somtimes feel we expect much more because we think we're better than everyone else. "Oh no, I don't have gas for my SUV. Wahhhhhh! (baby cry)" Well ride a bike to work. "Noooo, it's too far to my office and it's too hot." Well move closer to your job. "Noooo. I don't like that neighborhood. Wahhhhhhh" Of course that was not an actual transcript, but sometmes I talk to friends and they sound just like that. ....I had dinner with a family last night and the rice we were eating was grown on their farm last year. They made their own RICE!!! I can't even make a cheese sandwich without complaining that the sliced cheese is too thin.

So let me be the first to say, "My name is P.K. Gillock. I'm an American and I'm high-maintenance and very spoiled."

Whose next?

LOL :) I drive a moped, it's one notch above a bike. In order to feel more confidence, I sometimes drive behind bicycles and honk my horn, "Get off the road, pedal boy!"

Hey pookie sweet avatar. I gotta ask, did you photoshop that DVX into the monk's hands or did he actually pose with the DVX for you?

Pookies avatars are like the weather here in Va. If you don't like it, just wait five minutes, it'll change.

Pookie has commited Identity Theft once again. Someone call the FEDS.

NO CA$H - You notice the DVX in Pookie's stolen avatar, but I've had the same avatar (with DVX) for one year and you haven't noticed. Hmmmmm I'm hurt. :( The camera was Photoshop'd in. Very poorly, I might add.

PK it's just weather patterns. I think I read it was 1933, we had as many hurricanes that year. No global warming then! Some people say its the sun going through a more active period. No matter what. It is out of our hands.
