Hunt for Gollum

The movie is getting hammered with views. No wonder, it is far and again the best non-studio backed film I have ever seen. THe acting was superb, the locations and feel were even better. What an inspirational film for folks like us.

If this is the future of filmmaker, what a great time lies ahead.

Thanks for sharing that.

Now if I can just find a place to download the darn thing so I can watch it again on my plasma, I will be even happier.

It is inspirational, and I"ve worked on short films with lots of cast and crew that donated their time.

However, one thing besides the excellent directing that sets this film apart is the post production and FX. The costume design, prosthetic make up, the touch up in post, the mattes for outdoor scenes, orchestral music mix, foley work, and so forth was all professional quality. I don't mean amateurs that produced a professional result, but actual professionals that donated their time to the project.

I think a big part of the reason this all came together is becuase there are so many fans of Tolkien. Yes, the Director is talented as well as the actors, and they deserve a lot of credit, but I don't know if you could have gotten so much free help on an original screenplay not based on an existing IP.

I agree and disagree. First let me say however I think the idea of people coming together for the sheer pleasure and desire for filmmaking is the best and most impressive display of true talent and artistic vision I can think of.

What I disagree on is whether they would have gotten that much help on something else. I think a fantastic and engaging story stands on its own, no matter how well established. Maybe this trend is still evolving, the whole donation of time and talent, but I can not help but hope this is the future for us.

yep , sony. seen in the picture section of the BTS. I think it's paired with an SGPro.
