human experiments are fun!

Got a letter in the mail from a local hospital saying they'll pay $1,000 for volunteers for experiments.

Of course, I immediately thought of R. Rodriguez and his raising money through science experiments. So I signed right up!

Went for the physical yesterday. They asked if was mentally unstable, so I crossed my fingers behind my back and said 'no, not at all'.

I did this back in college, though not for $1,000.

Just wondering if anyone else has done this? As long as you're comfotable with probing and being injected with experimental drugs, you could make a little money.

its not always drugs going into you, I saw an ad for 1800$ and its was for sleep cycles, so they make you sleep durring the day and make you do math problems all night.... kind of like college!

It's definitely something each person has to decide for themselves. It's been just as interesting to see people's reactions.

Yeah, I mean if I'm crazy and reckless enough to think I can make films, I should be crazy and reckless enough to be in an experiment.

Plus, the test is they inject with something that slightly lowers my testosterone (which I wasn't using much anyway).

Then I just have to have a physical every 4 weeks for 16 weeks. After 8 weeks I get half the money, the rest at the end.

The idea is they measure bone density during this period, to study the effect of lowered testosterone on this.

Every guy I know says 'Lower your testsoterone! You are crazy!' But I took some medical ethics classes back in college and I know they have extensive independent reviews of any experiment involving people. Also, this is a well-known research institute, they do human studies all the time.

So no worries - and if I show up in public in stiletto heels and a party dress, everyone'll know why.
