Huge thanks to Coffey Sound in Los Angeles

Gotta send out a huge thanks to Dave Fisk, Chris Silverman and all the guys at Coffey Sound in Los Angeles.

Thanks to them I am getting such amazing sound now. I rented for a while but went ahead and bought a Schoeps mic with the Mk41. All I can say is WOW. After renting many of the top mics from them I can say that there is nothing that sounds so good. All the guys at Coffey Sound really helped me out with info on the mics and mixers.

I am sititing here editing my footage from the shoot today and it sounds so amazing I cannot even believe it is real :) It feels so good to say goodbye to all cheap ass equipment that so many merchants push our way. I consider this Scheops purchase to be the best money I ever spent in my life.

If you want real info on what to buy just call them because they know what they are talking about.

Be back for that 302 mixer next week! And maybe that Scheopes shotgun

While I respect a lot of the vendors that are mentioned on these boards, I am noticing a lot more "sales" stuff on here. While I think it useful to advise where to get things, I hope the information that appears on these boards remains objective. This is just an observation.

I just was wonder how the guy thanks "someone " in his first post in the forum:-)
The link was the way to make it more objective, you know what i mean .By the way i like Coffey sound and their boss even i never flashed my card there .

I wonna thanks dvx user com comunity for the grate forum which i joined few days ago.,,,

I like the guys at coffey too, but I gotta' admit I was thinking the same way Exile was... that's a quirky first post.

I like Coffee too but to even the playing field here are some other great dealers in the US.

http://www.gothamsound.com/

http://www.locationsound.com/

http://www.taiaudio.com/

http://www.trewaudio.com/

http://fullcompass.com/

http://www.sonicsense.com/

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/

All carry good equipment and most have good customer service (most people know the one that doesn't  ).

EVS ( http://www.evsonline.com/ ) also has really good...great customer service. They carry some good sound equipment but don't deal in some of the higher end sound gear. They make up for that by being a great place to buy audio AND video. And again great customer service!

IMHO each have areas of strength but if I were shopping for a new dealer I would go with the one that is closest.

That sould even the playing field :)

It's probally one of their Salesreps trying to pull a fast one.

Actually, it's not. But thanks for the insult.

Greg has been in several times, and we have had long conversations about mics, and which ones to get. He's been a lurker here from quite some time, because we have discussed topics on here in the past. This just happens to be his first post. Greg happens to be a local guy, so he came to a local store.

I'm a big fan of supporting your local dealer. If you live in the Midwest, frequent Trew Audio. If you live in the Northeast, Gotham is a great place to get gear. If you live in the Southeast, Tai is a cool place. Out here in L.A., you have Coffey Sound and Location Sound. Take your pick. Go to both of us, or shop from everyone. Spread the love, I say.

I will also agree that some of us people that deal with sales during the day have been a little bit "sales guyish" lately. I will admit it's nice to see someone post a something nice about myself, or others have about Rush from EVS.

I want to make it clear that I'm not on here to sell any of you anyting at all. Yeah, it's cool to sell something to someone that frequents this group, but I'm really on here to help educate folks about sound, and give some cool inside info about products that the average poster may not know. Weather someone on here buys something from me, or from someone else...I really don't care. We all gotta make a living.

Anyways. Thanks Greg for the kind words. I'm glad you like your new Schoeps.

A few of you tried to turn my thread thanking an amazing vendor for all their help (which has been above and beyond the call of duty) into someting negative. I will not allow that to happen.

A few of you owe and apology to Dave and if you don't give it then that says a lot about what kind of person you are.

Dave, great point about the local audio dealers. I've had a great relationship with one up here in the northeast, to the point where they let me take stuff home to try before I buy and they have great classes and meetings. What I like about these forums is I can come on and check out people's first hand experiences with gear, learn some things, offer help when I can, etc. It's a great community.

Steve

By they way, I would be more than happy to show you guys my rental records and sales slips.

Put up $10k in an escrow account and I will do the same. If I prove that I have rented serveral mics and mixers in the past month and also purchased the Schopes (with MK41 and Cut 1) then I get the the $10k. If I don't prove it then you get the $10k.

Fair?

Don't want to risk $10k? Ok, the how about a mere $1,000 ? Let's see if you have any balls.

In fact, I will make it super easy for you guys. How about $200? If I win then I will donate that money to charity. If you win then you can keep the money and buy yourself a new keyboad because I am sure you need a new one due to all that time you spend on the internet creating drama.

Any takers?

I can show proof that I rented the Sheopes with Mk41 and Mk4 caps several times. I also rented the MHK50, MHK60, 302 mixer (2 times), booms, cables, and other gear this past month. I have a 302 mixer rental from them as we speak. My first name is spelled "Greg" and my last name starts with a "D" and this will reflect on my rental records and American Express bill.

So be a decent person and give Dave an apology.

:)

Well, I certain wasn't coming after Dave or you. Dave is a great contributer to this forum and I have never seen him make a hard push to purchase gear from Coffey.

Rush does mention getting gear from EVS but again he never pushes it. In fact when my business were shopping for some video gear he actually pointed us at some other dealers since he didn't feel he could fill the order quick enough.

There is no doubt some sleezy salesmen on the net but I believe the retailers that come here are pretty good about respecting this as a home for information and not a place to push their business.

That has been my experience.

I think you guys owe gregg an apology. he was being sincere. by the way, sometimes the best way to say "sorry" is through a thoughtful gift. I just happen to come across a great site for buying gifts. here's the link: www.creativegifts.com

Yeah, I am hungry! Those gift baskets look yummy.

Actually, if I started the trouble, I apologize. However, I wasn't talking about Gregg's post, I was referring to the way Exile linked to Trew. And even that wasn't that big a deal, but just seemed kind of strange after the post that was merely talking about a good experience at a particular dealer. It seemed like thread jacking to me.

FIrst of all; hi Dave! I know you and respect your 'memberism's' to dvxuser.com. You are a valuable contributor.

Second of all; apologize? Look Francis.......... er Gregg...

Don't come in here running your mouth. Don't start with the 10K and 1K crap. Your first post was a pimp; no worries. Cool, great (Hi Dave!) but don't get cocky.

And what the hell am I apologizing for anyway?

i am sorry you didn't get, i linked to other people testimonials , usually good mixers posting under their own name and yes i linked it to other vendor site ,
in the same way i could link it to Dave's local dealer "location sound":-)

I am the last who would say Coffey dont deserve your money, and during the last years sent enough people buy there while their staying in US( If Dave need some names i can provide them) but give me some credit after 300000$ investments in gear for the last 15 years to recognize thony $ bill

and gregggg stay away from the poker tables , i can see your hand threw your eyes, stay from the grill 2:-).
