HPX3000 vs. HPX2000

How would the HPX2000 stack up against the HPX3000? I'm assuming the 2000 doesn't have full 1080p sensors, but between the images themself, how do they compare? And could the 2000 with stand a FilmOut?

A DVX100 can withstand a filmout. An HPX2000 would excel at a filmout. An HPX3000 would do even better since it's sharper and has the FILM REC gamma.

You might want to take a look at Panasonic's specs on the cameras at their site:

AJ-HPX3000

AJ-HPX2000

Edited to add:
I actually don't see mention of over/undercranking capability on either camera.

As far as I know the only cameras from Panasonic that offer variable frame rate shooting are
the HVX200, HPX500, and the Varicam.

(Barry, please correct me if I'm wrong on that)

Neither the 2000 nor 3000 do variable frame rates. They both do 24, 25, 30, 50i, and 60i; the 2000 also does 720/50p and 720/60p.

The 3000 has FILM REC gamma, the 2000 doesn't. The 3000 includes AVC-Intra built-in, on the 2000 it's an optional add-in card.

The 2000 uses 1280x720 sensors; the 3000 uses 1920x1080 sensors.

Other than that, I don't know enough about those two units to compare them further.

Very helpful, Barry. (Luis, I've looked at the Panny site, I just find It is difficult to digest the information for comparative purposes).

If I wanted to do slow motion using the HPX3000, should I basically use the same guidelines as shooting slow motion with the DVX (shoot in 60i)?

I'm curious as to how this will look.
