Ready to spring for the camera.
Hearing only positive things about it.
Will getting footage on the timeline mean dumping Vegas and learning another NLE?
'cuase I don't want to do that.
Will I have to replace my dual core machine with a whiz bang monster of a 'puter$$$
Frankly I'd like to stay in the SD world with my five-year-old DVX, because it's a comfortable place to be and I'm making money with it.
But I know if I don't move forward, I'll move backward.
Or what about just opening a pizzeria.

You don't have to dump Vegas, but you would have to buy Raylight from www.dvfilm.com.

And you don't need a whiz-bang computer, a dual-core is plenty adequate to handle HD from an HPX170. The HPX170's codec is very edit-friendly.

Hey barry,i haven't seen your thoughts on vegas 9 anywhere,or did i miss it?What do you think of it?Has it taken a turn for the better or for the worse?

Ouch.

Ouch.

Ouch. That's kind of painful to hear you say Barry. Hope you at least give V9 a try, but my recommendation is to wait until 9.0a comes out. 9.0 is problematic.

Vegas has been my favorite interface and basically favorite editor since 2003, but recently they've veered off course as far as I'm concerned. Whereas it looks like Premiere Pro is getting their head on straight. For AVC-HD or P2 support, Premiere is currently spanking Vegas like it's a very, very bad boy.

But man, I do love how Vegas works.
