HPX170 and the Brevis not fitting together?

Recently purchased the Brevis to pair with my HPX170. It seems that when screwing on the acromat, the convex hpx and convex achromat glass seem to touch before the achromat is fully threaded on. Has anyone had this issue.

If I use a spacer between the two, would that make my footage noticeably softer, and if so is there a way to recalibrate to keep sharp focus? Thanks,

Luke

I don't have this camera, but a slim spacer shouldn't be a problem.
Buy a cheap UV-filter and take the glass out. Don't buy those super-slim wide angle filter.

I wouldn't imagine so, sounds like a question for Dennis though, just shoot
him and email and I'm sure he would let you know for sure but I cant imagine it would change much!

Just FYI - if you order an SGBlade to work with the 170, it also comes with a spacer ring for the very same reason, so the problem is not unique to the Brevis.

Hmm, we've had zero complaints on HPX170 fitments so far...other than the offset tripod mount. That was addressed with our new Proteus base plate. Our achromat does not protrude rearward past our 72mm threads meaning nothing should ever touch it...unless the HPX170 optics protrude past the 72 threads. This would be surprising as then every 72mm filter would contact the HPX170 optics...

My first comment here to get you going would be to use a 72mm UV filter on the HPX170 to provide threads spaced out a bit. Then I'd ask you to send pics taken across the threads, as close to 90 degrees off the optical axis as possible. A quick SKYPE session would work to if you can send us video.

Cheers,
Dennis.

i can confirm the issue, the acromat gets to close to th HPX172, and if you tigitin it right up it softens th centre of the image, I was thinking of smashing an old 72mm UV to space it out.
