Yesterday, I bought the hpx170. I'm reading Barry and can't wait to post some video. In the meantime, I got a 16x9 HDV7X1 0.7 Wide Angle Adapter. Cue scooby going "ruh-roh." My horizontal lines were fish eyed all over the place. I like the width it gave me, but the barrel distortion was too much. I'm ready to return it, but is there a better lens? If I want to get more in there, do I have to look at 35mm adapters?
If I want to be able to export a wide 2.35:1 or 2.39:1, what can I do? Or am I going about this all wrong: The distortion is at the top and bottom and I just keep the crazy 16x9 lens, but crop the top and bottom of the screen out and cover it up on the monitor in the meantime? I'm fcp and 720/24pn if that matters.
