HPX 171 - Lex f5.6 query

Hi, i had my first paid job for the Lex yesterday - and although it was landscapes which I didn't think the Lex actually bought an whole lot extra to - the system appears to work well. And without the optimised achromat it appears to be sharp edge-to-edge, which I was quite suprised at. (Maybe this is because it's a very recent version?)

Anyways, the query is - I kept the nikon (50mm) lens below f5.6 (shooting at f4) but adjusted the 171's exposure to suit assuming that the f-stop on the camera body doesn't unveil the GG. What I seem to have found is that the despite keeping the 35mm lens at f4, I could still see the GG on some shots.

So, is the f5.6 just for the 35mm lens or does it apply to the camera as well?

Other than that a fairly successful day.

Only on the 35mm lens , but 5.6 is just a rule of thumb and with specific cameras and imagery it could be worse. I'm surprised with a LEX you would see GG at f4 though. Large expanse of sky seems to be tough. Shutter speed can affect it though as well as whether the speed of the Lex motor is right. Don't know if the smaller size of the HPX 170 is relevant.

Anyone else on this?

I did some more tests, re-set the lens and focus on the GG and I can still see a pattern especially on pans across the sky?

Should I be able to see something or nothing at all, if keeping the stop at f4.

Thanks.
