Haven't felt urge to move up from X.3.4 since it's been fairly stable. Would be interested in experiences of anyone who's spent a few weeks with X.3.5. Worth doing?
I've been on 10.3.5 since the day it came out, and haven't had any problems so far. In fact, I've jumped on every update for Panther, and haven't had a single problem yet -- I'm knockin' on wood.
(Ooh, look, a new security update is out today ....)
I've heard of alot of people having crashing on 10.3.5 with FCP4.5. Apple doesn't seem to know why yet, but they have asked for anyone who does have a crash to submit a report. The problem seems to affect people with Quicksilver G4s and some Powerbooks. The speculation on Ken Stone's site is that it may be related to the recent updates Apple made to the graphics card drivers to run the real time effects for Motion.
A solution for some people seems to be setting effect handling to NONE.
Personally, I haven't been having any crashes, but I did get a General Error when I tried to open my Audio/Video prefs. This problem seemed to go away after a restart.
I just installed the 10.3.5 update and a couple of security updates and now. . .Stuffit/UnStuffit DOES NOT work!! I keep getting a message telling me to i need to install v.8.0, even though I'm using v.8.0.2. Anybody else get this strange error?
