How would you shoot this AMBULANCE IN MOTION shot?

I really need the following sequence for a short I'm making:

It's an overhead shot of an ambulance going right under a bridge, siren and lights on, front first, and as soon as the back of it gets to the end of the frame, CUT TO the same ambulance coming out the other side of the bridge.

Details: I only have one DVX100 and it needs to be a daytime scene.

I thought of staying on the bridge, with the DVX set on a tripod just waiting for an ambulance to come underneath me. Then as I see it coming, shoot it, and then I calmly move the camera to the other side while I wait for another one to come to shoot its back coming out from underneath the bridge. I live in a big city, they come by often. The thing is, both of these would have to come in the same lane, and the traffic would more or less have to match. So that's a problem. It could happen, but I don't want to break continuity.

The other option would be to go to a pedestrian bridge, you know, those over the freeway, which are usaually pretty narrow, and shoot it on a shoulder mount and then as soon as the ambulance goes underneath me jump over to the other side to get it coming out. But I don't know if I can pull it off, with the framing and everything.

Any suggestions? How would you guys do it?
Thanks.

No clue what "zapping" is, so I'm not sure I understood what you meant for your shots.
As far as continuity though, if you're doing this at night, between the bright flashing lights of the ambulance in the dark and the loud sounds (just use the sound from one take so the sound of the traffic matches between the shots), it's unlikely anyone would notice +/- a few cars.
