How would you react to seeing a scene from your movie re-done by someone else?

Sounds to me like lee is the 'other guy' who made the copy of the scene and not the person who made the original film. Do I win a cookie?

My thoughts exactly. If I'm wrong I'm sorry but that is what it sounds like to me. Was trying to wait for the other shoe to drop, but you beat me to it CB_Radio.

Damn, my thoughts too - I wanted to be the one to say it! I was just waiting to see what will be "revealed" or "explained".

I read post#8 and actually had to go back to the first post to figure out what the OP's name was because it seemed like there was some other guy named Lee posting in the thread as well.

Post 8 made me think that the 'other guy' must have somehow heard about this thread and showed up to defend himself against the original poster.

Post 8 got me to thinking too, but then I thought naw. It's to obvious. But then after reading post 11 & 12 I was pretty sure something smelled funny.

OK then, thats been covered. The location and dialog was different, everything else (premise, actions, results) were the same.

Lee

If the dialog, locations, staging, and shot blocking are all different it's hardly a copy of your work. The ideas behind the scene are always up for grabs for anyone to use freely as the basis of their own expression.

If I were the original filmmaker I would appreciate it if you put somthing in the begening like "based on a scene from John Smith's The Movie Title."

See I guess the problem I would have is either its a much less grand version of the scene, and then your spoiling it for John Smith's potential future audience, or you do a much grander version, and then John Smith feels ripped off.

But if your just making it for practice, and you don't really advertise it, then I suppose it would be OK. Aspecially if most of the people who watch it have already seen the original version.
