How would YOU piece together a Feature?

Hey Editing a Longer movie on CS5, and wondering how others would do it.

1. Example dump ALL the footage for the whole movie in one project and ALL Scenes in one sequence?

2. OR maybe bring all the footage in one project but each scene is its own sequence then arrange the sequences later in another sequence.

3. OR maybe each scene gets its own project then arrange the rendered files in a whole new project building your movie

Just looking for opinions on how youd do it or what works best, not to overload the system

Thanks

For long-form projects in CS5 I've been working with each scene as a sequence, then creating a 'master' timeline for the final cut.

All three are viable. Choose the one you like best.

For myself, I prefer option 2. The seperate sequences breaks things down nicely, and all in one project makes it easy to see what's already been done and how the current scene fits in.

You can do it any of the ways you mention, but you'll definitely make your life easier by editing everything in one single project in order to save yourself from messing around with edl's and aaf's when it comes to the final edit though. The only reason i could see to edit each scene in a separate project is if you're pc is to slow to handle an hour+ long timeline. on larger projects (40+minutes) i start by doing a very rough assembly edit of the whole thing in a single sequence in order to get the overall structure and pacing down. after that i break it up into separate sequences of about one every 5-15 mins depending on the nature project, edit each of those sequences in their own timeline and then nest the completed sequences in a new the full length timeline.
