I have a good idea of what I want them to sound like, but I'm not sure how to make the noises. They're running zombies. I want them to sound somewhat like the modern Dawn of the Dead or 28 Days Later. Only "screaming" when they're attacking and startled, most of the time making frantic sputtering noises and laboured, raspy breathing. I'm not sure how to make either of those noises, as no person I know can make a sound nasty enough.
I also need something that would create a good ambiance for zombies trying to break in a barricaded door. I love the moaning ambiance that Shaun of the Dead has, but that doesn't suit what I'm doing.
I assume I'll have the zombies mostly mouth their noises and stay relatively silent, but I'll take your advice on this as well.
So how would you go about making or gathering these noises?
