What's the setting? Nightclub?
I think you're headed in the right direction. The blacks are crushed a bit too much. If the setting is supposed to be a night club you might try adding in a color cast (blue or whatever feels right, have fun with it). You might want to distress the image to give it a grundgy feel. Perhaps add a thin smoke layer (top and bottom) to frame the shot and give it some depth. my 2

To me your subjects are submerged in the black. I would try to seperate them from the black a little more.

this is my attempt. i raised the whites and the mids, crushed the blacks. pushed the mids towards blue and the whites towards green. that's about it.

i wanted the backlit silhouette look. Its no real setting - just a photo for a poster, and i wanted to make it look arty - its supposed to advertise a music concert

Try working in 16 bit mode and/or Lab mode, and you wont get those pixelations on their shirts. Well, not as bad anyway.

Ooh... Lab... :love4:

Hey Matt, you ever read the Lab book by Dan Margulis?

Not yet, though I do own a few of the titles I found when I looked that up on Amazon. I have more Photoshop books that any one person needs. Got to "review" them when I was a Photoshop/Graphics Instructor. One of the percs, and I have indulged in as many as I could.
