How would YOU color correct this?

hey there. i just had a three camera shoot for a live band. one of the cameras seems to be on a different setting then the others because the color turned out very different. the lead singer is wearing a blue shirt with a black vest. but in his footage, the shirt looks more red. the vest too. i have FCE and i've been playing around with color corrector, RGB Balance, and basically all color effects i can find. rgb balance helps a little but honestly this is gonna be tough. i'm not as experienced with these effects and looking for advice on how to correct the footage. either that, or i'm considering making his shots b&w. that might look weird tho, going from color to b&w for a live show. or would that be acceptable?

i've included two images to show the differents. the close up of the lead singer is the one that needs to be changed..

this is how it should look

also just in case anyone is thinking 'well he's standing under a red light so there's nothing you can do', my third camera man who was filming the other band member got the same color as the wide shot.

thanks in advance for any help guys. i really don't want to let the band down. :)

My best advice would be to find a friend who has FCS2 and use 'Color'. You could fix it within minutes. FCE is great but it's quite limited for serious color grading, which is what you want.

Yup- that would be a moderately tricky shot to fix in Color but nothing impossible.

oh, sigh. i want to get final cut pro but i need more ram so that's why i only have FCE (for now..)

i had a feeling that i was missing something. i've been messing around with it, and i think the video will go between color and b&w. it's the only way i can fix it for now. hopefully the band doesnt mind, so i don't have to admit that it was to cover up for bad color.... actually, it's turning out alright. but thanks for the replies. i'm seeing more and more every day that i need to upgrade to final cut pro. first for the multi - cam editing, and now for Color. compressor would be nice to have too! ha. ok.

thanks guys.

To me it just looks like there's a lot more red in the first shot. Add a CC filter in FCP and push the reds toward blue until it matches.

yes, definitely just too much red. i've tried messing around with color correcter but cant seem to get it how i want... maybe because i'm in FCE and dont have color correcter 3 way... or i just don't know what i'm doing.. perhaps a combination of the two?

perhaps someone will find it 'artistic' that the shirt looks blue in some shots and red in others.........

That's a good point. A music video has more 'artistic' license than most other formats. And lights on stage change all the time.

great, now they want a second video edited from the same performance. i dont' think i can get away with using the b&w again.. i really wanna color correct this now...

since i don't have Colour or FCP with color corrector 3 way, i was wondering.. would anybody be interested in helping me with this? ie: i would send you a 3 minute video clip using megaupload and you try color correcting it?

i dunno, just hoping...

Go for it. I have some free time this afternoon at work and could give it a shot. A couple of reference stills of the other angles would be helpful as well.
