how would you approach this set up g5, hdmi monitor, mini dv deck, DvX100 ??

I'm going from DVX100 to older G5 QUAD and considering an HDMI cheap TV for simple color correction.

I've never worked with a deck before so I really value all of you for the input on setting up a poor mans
standard def suite with ability to do basic color grading.

If it matters, at this moment I'm looking to finish in DL DVD. But will archive to tape via DVX cam at the end.
