How would I gradually slow down a clip? I want to make it go from 100% down to 40% but not right away if that makes sense. I want a gradual slow down. Any one know a way to do this?
I haven't really used it, but try experimenting with the Time Remap. Put the clip in your time line, double click on it in the timeline, then go to the Motion tab in the viewer. Bottom section is "Time Remap".
Keep in mind that the Time Remap function won't make your clip longer automatically like the static Time setting does. You may find that after crating the "ramp", you will have to manually drag out the end of your clip to make it longer, to accomedate the extra time you added by doing the effect.
A few tips to get you started:
45 degree angle, going lower left to upper right, is normal time. A perfectly horizontal line is a still image. Any angle going from upper left down to lower right is reversed. Very slight changes can give very powerful results.
I have a sample I'll post over the weekend when I get a chance, of going down a Bayou and I use the ramp to slow down until it stops. Freaky thing is when the video actually hits the point where it's a still, your eyes play a trck and you see the motion actually going in reverse for a moment. I'll get it up over the weekend.
Here's the diff between Time ReMap with and without Frame Blending. Due to the fact I compressed the crap out of them, the one with Frame Blending actually looks to have a stutter that isn't there in the full screen version. The one without Frame Blending actually stutters less than the original full size version.
