How use 1/8" mike for phone recording?

I'm trying to use a friend's DVX100 to record an audio interview. On similar cameras I have simply plugged my RadioShack phone device into the 1/8" mike jack on the camera, to get miniDV audio for easy editing. Regrettably I'm not too familiar with the DVX100 (and my friend actually isn't either; it's brand-new), but it seems to have no 1/8", right? And if so, what could you recommend to rent cheaply to fix problem? Thx in advance.

to do this you need female 1/8 to xlr . Almost any local audio shop should have one or could make one for you.  that will get the audio in to the dvx-100 but are you tring to plug a turntable (record player) into the dvx-100 ?

If so you would also need a phono preamp.

I think what Jen is doing is using a device that RS sells to be able to record both sides of a phone conversation (I used to have one of those in years gone by). The device plugs into the phone with a standard phone cord and then it has a 1/8" jack that comes out of it on a cord. This end you would plug into say a micro-cassette recorder. So she will need an adapter cable. On the other hand, Jen you could record the conversation on a standard recorder and then plug that recorder into your computer's sound card and re-record the conversation digitally that way, depending on your computer set-up.
