How to use Mpeg transport stream

Does anyone now how to convert or use these files? I had a client send a couple of gigs using Dropbox and now I have no idea how to use them. I have tried all the usual suspects (MPEG Stream Clip, and Log and Transfer). Any other thoughts?

These files? WHAT files? You don't say what they are, other than the delivery method.

Why won't MPEG STREAMCLIP work?

MPEG Transport Stream, or more commonly known to most as the .MTS extension, is a form of AVCHD. If memory serves, for future reference you want to use log and transfer directly off the card (or a disk image created from the card)
As for your situation, there are a couple plausible options.

1.VLC-I know VLC can open .MTS files, and there is an export wizard incorporated in it, although not entirely sure about the quality it can produce.
2.Handbrake-Great program for pulling scenes of personal DVD's, but you can also apparently convert MTS files with a wide array of options.
3.VoltaicHD-Another great program I've heard that handles all forms of AVCHD is VoltaicHD but again I've personally never had any experience with it.

Download the demo, can't hurt.
