How to use a Video Camera with Ustream?

I watched a few youtube videos on how to use a video camera with Ustream instead of a webcam but all the people in the videos were using PC's. I have a Macbook Pro and I am running FCP Studio. People in the videos were saying you needed a capture device so the computer will recognize the camera. Since I use FCP for capture and editing is there a way I can connect my camera via Firewire and then use that with Ustream instead of my built in iSight camera?
